Saltaire Primary School make the most of their outdoor classroom
Well before Hirst Lock Nature Area opened, staff and pupils of Saltaire Primary School embraced the project, enthusiastically adopting projects to help make it a more attractive area. Now they use it as an outdoor classroom and early in May 2016 a group of pupils re-planted the walled garden at the top of the area. Then they used leaves and flower around the nature area to discover the delights of Hapa-Zome, the Japanese art of creating artwork by extracting the natural pigments from plants to make a pattern on linen or cotton.
