Hirst Wood Nature Reserve is a community asset,
designed to give local residents and visitors a
great place to visit and relax. From the first it was
planned to make entrance completely free.
As a voluntary group with no income apart from
sponsorships, grants and donations, Hirst Wood
Regeneration Group has been conscious of the
need to make provision for the future running
costs. We needed to cover items like insurance and
repairs
So, on opening day we arranged a bric-a-bac sale
and also had our volunteers going round with the
collecting bucket. And what a wonderful response
we got, despite the dreadful weather, we raised
£570.84. Than you to everyone who contributed.
In addition, we were delighted to receive an email
from saying: ‘Get Out More CIC would like to
make a donation of £200 to Hirst Wood
Regeneration Group.
‘As you know we are a social enterprise which
means that when we make a profit we reinvest
that into the community. Our outdoor
programmes made a small profit last year so we'd
like to share some of that with you, as a
community organisation doing great things to
support the environment and communities in
places where we also work. ‘

good effect
