The internment took place on Saturday morning at Hirst Wood Cemetery of Mr William Henry Brighton, aged 80, of 38 Thompson Street, Shipley. The Rev N H Jolly, vicar, conducted the service at the Parish Church previous to the funeral. The deceased was a veteran of the Indian Mutiny (Lucknow) and his corpse was conveyed to the cemetery on a gun carriage supplied by the A.S.C. at the Bradford Moor Barracks, and the coffin was covered with the Union Jack. As well as family, the mourners included representatives of the Bradford & District army and Navy Veterans; Cpl Thompson and Trooper Thompson who had seen service in Egypt and have medal and star; Trooper Thos Barber, who also has the medal and star for foreign service; Staff Sgt Rollins, served in Afghanistan; Pte Bowerman, with foreign service; and Pte Allen, Grenadier Guards.
