A Magical  Night
Forget the Cottingley Fairies, the new home for magic is Hirst Wood as the pupils of Saltaire Primary School showed with one of their latest projects involving Hirst Wood Nature Reserve.
Working with local artist Sharon Snaylam they explored the world of fairies, set about designing Fairy Doors to go in the nature reserve and then imagined who and what would be behind them.
The doors were then taken to the nature reserve and on a warm, dry December night, lit only by candles (and an occasional torch) the children and their parents set out to find their doors. Once they found them they attached a green ribbon to show they had been successful.
The nature reserve has never looked better
We went hunting for Fairy Doors
We also found a Wishing Well…
…Saltaire Primary School singing carols…
…and some of the helpers who made it possible
